THE NOW MOMENT
"With Thee is the fountain of life." Psalms 36:9
Life doesn't come with a rewind button. It constantly amazes me how many
people want to live in the past. The past is spent energy and no longer
exists. It is like trying to drive a car forward, while only looking into
the rearview mirror. Life can be exciting in the present moment but only
if you have the eyes to see it. Ask God for present moment eyes, not
clouded by the cataract vision of imagined yesterdays.
One of the most important lessons in your spiritual development is
learning to release the past so that you can live fully in the now, in the
presence of God.
You know that you bring your past with you to any new beginning, but you
choose to take only whatever adds to the enrichment and upliftment of your
life. You carry with you an understanding you have gained from your
Experiences, but you let go of the excess baggage of guilt and regret over
past mistakes.
As you do, you gain a greater knowledge from each new experience. God is
continually giving you a new understanding and the opportunity of a new
beginning. You release yourself and others from limitations from the past
and the mistakes in the past. You choose to let go of yesterday's mistakes
and begin anew.
Only people that live in the "NOW moment" can truly experience God. God is
not alive in the imagined past nor does God live in the imagined future.
God lives with you right now, right where you are. If you could capture
this moment fully in your awareness, it could live forever as a happy
investment, secure within your mind's memory.
If you could decide to live this day by not allowing any past hurt to harm
you in the present moment, you will be free. If you decide to no longer be
a victim of past circumstances, you will be free to enjoy this day. If you
decide not to have fear over some imagined event in the future, you will
be free to enjoy this day.
God's will is for you to live fully-NOW! The Bible says, "Perfect love
casts out fear." When you live fully in the present moment, you live in
its wonder and its awe. You will be filled with love for life - your life!
Let us pray,
Dear God, I pray today, in this "NOW moment" that I am fully awake and
aware of Your good that surrounds me. I do not allow any imagined event in
the future to rob me of the sacredness of this moment. I pray that I am
able to fully release my past so that I am freed by the truth of this
moment to enjoy my life. I pray that I have your love come through me so
that I can view and witness everything with the eyes of love, gratitude,
and thanksgiving. I pray that no matter what task I'm doing, large or
small, that I take the time in my awareness to bask in the moment.
In the happiness of the now moment, in awareness of the presence of Jesus
Christ.... Amen
